February 6, 2015
There’s a reason why #joblove is a popular hashtag on social media. We spend a lot of our time at work, and more and more it’s becoming apparent to employers that job perks, big or small, are what’s keeping employees loyal, engaged and happy while on the job. According to a survey by Employee Benefit News, here are some of the top job perks:
- Half-Day Fridays: The top choice for 40% of employees surveyed was early dismissal on Fridays. Always striving for work-life balance, half-day Fridays could help refuel employees and aid in retention.
- On-Site Gym: Physical fitness doesn’t only help your workforce be more present (read: less sick days) and productive, it can also keep your team happier. Twenty percent of workers said easy access to a gym would increase job satisfaction.
- Good Eats: Seventeen percent of employees said they wished their employer provided daily catered lunches. While that may not be realistic for every company, access to good food, whether on site or close by, is a perk everyone can agree on.
- Time Off: Forbes reports that following the trend of tech startups across the country, many workplaces are offering more than the traditional two weeks off. From unlimited time off to paid sabbaticals, employers are noticing the benefits of a workforce that works hard and plays hard.
- Personal Days/Mental Health: From personal days to in-office massages or meditation, companies are beginning to understand that stress management helps keep employee burnout at bay, reducing turnover and increasing job satisfaction.
